We’ve heard you loudly and clearly:  mentoring is an important aspect of ongoing professional development.  MANY is here to help.  We don’t have a formal program, but if you are feeling in need of mentorship or would like to provide mentorship, let us know. We might be able to facilitate a match.

ORGANIZATIONS
In addition to the benefits listed above, MANY provides its organizational members with the following benefits:

Networking. Get in touch with top museum professionals, trustees, and volunteers from every region of the state through MANY’s workshops, annual conferences, Professional Expertise Network, and telephone referral service. The newsletter puts you in touch with organizers of state-of-the-art programs and projects.

Advocacy. MANY keeps you up to date on state legislation, agency programs, the state budget, and funding sources. Each March, MANY coordinates museum representatives to call on legislators in Albany. Organizational members receive a free copy of the Legislative Guide, a comprehensive directory of state legislators, and tips on keeping local and state officials informed about issues facing your museum.

Training. Small group sessions -- designed for staff, trustees, and volunteers and hosted by museums throughout the state -- focus on the critical issues or building organizational capacity and infrastructure. 

Salary Survey. This biennial analysis of salaries and benefits -- organized by budget size, discipline, and region of the state -- is an invaluable human-resource management tool. Organizational members receive a free copy.

Issues Analysis. MANY regularly canvasses its members on emerging trends and critical issues. We share the results with government officials and with members through newsletter articles and workshops.

e-Newsletter. MANY e-Connections brings you new job postings and the latest personnel changes in museums, as well as timely information on all aspects of museum operations. Telephone numbers and Internet addresses enable you to follow up immediately on a good idea.
