MANY Welcomes Anna O'Meara

MANY welcomes Anna O'Meara to the team as our new Membership Associate.  Anna is a graduate of Notre Dame University with a MA in Art History and currently also works at the Albany County Historical Association.  Anna has also worked at the Shaker Museum at Mount Lebanon, the Albany Center Gallery, the South Bend Museum of Art and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.  Anna will be working to grow and maintain MANY's membership and will begin working August 24th.  She can be reached at (518) 273-3400 or at anna@manyonline.org.

Assembly Member Matthew Titone Introduces the Museum Education Act into the New York State Assembly

The Museum Association of New York (MANY) would like to thank Assemblyman Matthew Titone for introducing the Museum Education Act (A.8199) into the state Assembly. The Assembly Member represents Staten Island and is a member of the Assembly Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development Committee. We would also like to thank Senator Betty Little for introducing the same bill (S.5011) in the Senate in April.

The Museum Association of New York (MANY) would like thank Assemblyman Matthew Titone for introducing the Museum Education Act (A.8199) into the state Assembly. The Assembly Member represents Staten Island and is a member of the Assembly Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development Committee. This is the same bill as Senator Betty Little’s bill (S.5001) introduced in April.

URGE YOUR LOCAL ASSEMBLYMEMBER TO SUPPORT A1019

Please urge your local Assemblymember to support A1019, sponsored by Assemblymember Aileen Gunther.  The bill creates the NYS Women's Suffrage 100th Anniversary Commemoration Committee and has already passed the Senate where it was sponsored by Senator Betty Little.  The Commission will provide state-wide coordination for the 100th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage and will allow New York State to properly celebrate this historic milestone.  Thank you for supporting this important initiative and thanks to Senator Little and Assemblymember Gunther for leading the charge!

Support Museums, Support the Museum Education Act

The Museum Education Act (MEA) has been introduced by Senator Betty Little, Chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Touris, Parks and Recreation and has been assigned the number S5001. We expect the Assembly to follow suit shortly and introduce the bill there as well.

2015 Annual Conference - Most Successful Ever!

This year's Annual Conference brought over 400 participants to the Corning Museum of Glass making it the largest MANY conference to date! Thanks to all who attended and helped make it such a giant success. Thank you also to the record-number of conference sponsors and exhibitors - we couldn't have done this without you. We greatly appreciate the support and hope to see you all for the Annual Conference, April 17-19, 2016, in Lake Placid!  

Landry and Bell Confirmed as Annual Conference Speakers

MANY is pleased to announce that this year's Annual Conference Keynote Speakers will be Gavin Landry, Executive Director of Tourism at Empire State Development (ESD) and Ford Bell, President and CEO of the American Allicance of Museums (AAM). Landry will present the Opening Keynote at the Lunchon on Monday, April 13, while Bell will close the conference with his address on Tuesday, April 14.
