Long Island Children's Museum. Garden City, NY.
Early Childhood Program Manager

The Long Island Children’s Museum, in Garden City, New York, is looking for an Early Childhood Program Manager to help lead the Museum through an exciting stage in its development. LICM serves a culturally and economically diverse audience of 265,000 visitors per year in a 40,000 square foot building. Located in Museum Row, in a historic airplane hanger, the Museum is poised to begin an outdoor expansion, and to develop new educational and community initiatives.

Early Childhood Program Manager: We are looking for a dynamic, early childhood trained program manager and educator to develop and lead early childhood initiatives at the Museum and in the community. The Early Childhood Program Manager manages all aspects of early childhood education and programming for children ages birth – 5 years, including program development, exhibition support, parenting workshops, and staff and teacher training at the Long Island Children's Museum. This position is also responsible for implementation of the Museum’s kindergarten readiness program – Juntos al Kinder, Together to Kindergarten.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Master’s degree preferred, plus 5-10 years experience working with young children and their caregivers. Experience in parent and teacher education, 2-4 years supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Spanish is required. Candidates must be community-oriented, experienced working with a diverse population, comfortable meeting with funders, and have excellent writing, speaking and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be energetic, self-motivated, organized and able to work independently while still being a team player. Experience working in or with museums is helpful.

Hours:
Monday – Friday 9:00 – 5:00, with some evening and weekend hours required.
