Associate Curator

The Associate Curator is an integral member of the curatorial team, focusing on the initiation and development of faculty curated interdisciplinary exhibitions, course related programs and other initiatives in partnership with Skidmore faculty and students. This position also plays a key role in integrating the Tang's collections and exhibition program as a whole with teaching and research at the college. Additionally, the associate curator organizes projects and exhibits that reflect the associate curator's academic discipline, as appropriate to the Tang's teaching mission.

The successful candidate will have expertise in a broad spectrum of the arts and humanities with an extensive knowledge of art and art history and a strong interest in the museum as a venue for presentation, exploration and education. Must work effectively on a peer level with faculty and possess superb written, oral and visual skills. Must show demonstrated experience in the formation and development of exhibitions and educational initiatives from their earliest stages to realization and evaluation.

Qualifications include: A minimum of an MA in an academic discipline; MFA with museum experience; PhD or PhD candidate and a minimum of 5 yrs of related museum experience with a strong professional network.
