January 6, 2017
In a New Year’s article, The New York Times editorial board wrote of the ways we can be inspired by the potential of the new year and the “power of unity, of drawing close, and of speaking out.” Those thoughts strongly echo the mission of the Museum Association and our programs for our members and New York’s museum community in 2017. Over 100 organizations and individuals joined or renewed their membership in the last two months of 2016, a show of strength and support that boosted exciting plans and goals for 2017.
Two important deadlines for today and the coming week:
Today is the deadline for a letter of inquiry to the The Coby Foundation www.cobyfoundation.org/inquiry requesting proposals from New York State institutions north of Westchester and Rockland counties for exhibitions of textiles or fashions by makers from Upstate New York. The Foundation is expecting to support up to three planning grants of up to $30,000 and three implementation grants of up to $50,000. Don't miss this exciting opportunity if you have textiles in your collections.

Thank you again for all of the great year-end support and making me feel so welcome in my first months as Executive Director.
