These days, there’s a reality competition show for just about everything, from baking to fashion to pottery. But Netflix’s Blown Away—in which expert glassblowers compete for prizes including a residency at the Corning Museum of Glass in upstate New York—is especially worth a watch. There are no amateurs in sight, and watching the contestants work with delicate materials in high temperatures is especially riveting. Plus, the end results are beautiful.

Season two of the show will premiere on the streaming service on January 22, and that same day, the Corning Museum will launch an exhibition featuring one piece from each of the 10 contestants, who hail from around the world. One is Andi Kovel, whose Esque Studio (with partner Justin Parker) was named to Time magazine’s Design 100 and has created light fixtures and glass pieces for interior designers Lenny Kravitz and Kelly Wearstler.

Art professor Katherine Gray will return to the show as the resident evaluator, with YouTube and TikTok star Nick Uhas as the host. The trailer for season two reveals that none other than Queer Eye interior designer Bobby Berk will appear as a guest judge, as will season one contestant Alexander Rosenberg and winner Deborah Czeresko.

The museum is heavily involved with the show, from the exhibit to the grand prize residency to the appearance of its Hot Glass Demo Team and of former museum senior director Rob Cassetti on the final episode. (The demo team will serve as assistants, while Cassetti will be a guest evaluator.)

“Glass as a material keeps giving,” said Cassetti, who retired from his position in October. “I didn’t know that at 20 years old when I walked into a glass factory and stood under the furnace watching the molten glass drip—feeling the electric energy—that I’d end up trying to chase that magic for my career, but it’s been a beautiful chase. And it doesn’t end. I felt it when I stood on the set of Blown Away. That shiver-down-your-spine excitement is still there.”
