Meet our presenters

What is the Museum Institute?

The Museum Institute is a retreat for museum professionals held at Great Camp Sagamore in the heart of the Adirondacks. Participants learn in collaboration with presenters who use their own experiences, successes, and challenges to start and inspire conversations. Over the course of four days in this beautiful and isolated environment, all you will be asked to do is think deeply and participate in learning. In between conversations you will have time to explore the grounds of Camp Sagamore or sit by the fire in the evening.

The Museum Institute is not a conference nor a workshop - it offers the opportunity to have conversations with presenters throughout your stay. You will exchange ideas over breakfast, discuss strategies by the campfire and reflect on your experiences with theirs.

What's included in my registration?

Registration includes tuition, housing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, all meals, and all activities including a boat tour on Raquette lake, guided walks, kayaking, canoeing, and more.

What should I bring?

Fall weather in the Adirondacks can be unpredictable. Be prepared for warm, autumn sunshine but pack a couple of outer layers and rain gear in case we encounter a chilly, rainy week. The Institute is casual –jeans and closed-toed walking shoes or hiking boots are recommended.
