This session will be important for all who are interested in strategizing effective ways for their museums to work with elected officials and government. Nichole Westin, Senior Director of Government & Field Relations at AAM will lead the webinar. Learn about AAM’s ongoing efforts to expand awareness of the importance of museums as economic drivers, places of education, and centers of culture and community. Join the AAM Government Relations and Advocacy staff to learn more about the interconnectivity of the federal government and advocacy and how you can help. And how all of this can help shape a stronger future for museums.

Speakers

Nichole Westin

Senior Director of Government and Field Relations, AAM

Nichole Westin joined AAM in 2025 and will be leading the new coalition-based advocacy model that will draw on the full strength of the museum ecosystem to reassert the essential role of museums in national policy conversations. She has worked in policy, government relations, and advocacy for over 25 years and over the course of her career,  she has spearheaded successful policy efforts at both national and state levels. Nichole holds a Masters in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University and a BA in History from the University of Vermont. Outside of work, Nichole enjoys reading, music, and raising her daughter along with her husband.
