A native of New York's Capital Region, Diane Shewchuk has 30 years of experience working in the museum and historic house field in New York State with both collections based and public programming. She has held the positions of Curator at Clermont State Historic Site (associated with Robert R. Livingston 1746-1813), Historic Site Manager at John Jay Homestead State Historic Site, Curator and then Director at the Columbia County Historical Society (Kinderhook, NY) and Registrar and now Curator at the Albany Institute of History & Art. She has curated numerous exhibitions on a variety of themes including Alexander Hamilton, Albany and Anti-Suffrage, and most recently Well-Dressed in Victorian Albany: 19^th Century Fashion from the Albany Institute. Shewchuk has an MA in Museum Studies: Decorative Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City. Throughout her career she has worked with conservators at the New York State Bureau of Historic Sites and those in private practice on the treatment of museum collections. She has written four successful conservation treatment grants to the Greater Hudson Heritage Network (GHHN funds provided by the New York State Council on the Arts) and managed the projects. In 2018, she was awarded a grant from GHHN to treat a rare 18^th century découpé paper and ivory fan once owned by Margarita Cuyler Ten Broeck that will be featured in the Schuyler Sisters exhibition.
