Megan Eves Deputy Director Eves is an experienced digital communicator focused on promoting, advocating for, and sharing the stories of New York’s museums and cultural institutions. She has over ten years of experience working in museums, tourism, and nonprofit organizations. She has developed and implemented 100+ virtual and in-person programs that have reached national and international audiences. She plans, coordinates, promotes, and reports on in-person and virtual programs and workshops featuring museum professionals from across and outside New York State. Since 2019, more than 9,500 museum professionals, students, and industry partners have attended these programs and workshops. Since joining MANY, she has grown social media reach by by 70% and overall followers by 108%. Eves designs marketing materials, including logos, banner ads, postcards, and signage for programs and events, including the annual conference, virtual programs, Smithsonian exhibitions, and The Museum Institute. In her role, she also collected, aggregated, exported, analyzed, and interpreted data to create visually engaging reports for the museum field, including the 2023 State of the Field, 2019 State of NYS Museums, two COVID-19 Impact reports, and social media and programming reports for the board of directors. Eves serves as the Project Director for two Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibition Services Museum on Main Street exhibitions, including "Water/Ways" in 2019 and 2020, which traveled to six museums, and "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America," which is currently traveling to twelve museums. She joined the Museum Association of New York in December 2018 after serving as the first Social Media Marketing Specialist for the Cortland County Convention & Visitors Bureau for two and a half years. Her experience in the museum field helped the organization strengthen cultural and heritage tourism. Eves increased brand awareness and community partnerships for the CCV&B and maintained relationships with statewide tourism agencies, including I LOVE NY and the New York State Tourism Industry Association. Eves’ museum program and digital content skills include the 1890 House Museum, where she directed, edited, and produced “WickWired”– a YouTube series that explored lesser-known stories and spaces in the museum. During her time as Museum Assistant and later Booking & Events Coordinator at Glasnevin Cemetery Museum in Dublin, Ireland, she worked closely with the Education Director and Resident Historian to coordinate tours, local and national events, and educational programs, including helping to develop and produce “Budding Historian” a program with the Tolka Area Partnership for senior citizens to record their oral histories and develop storytelling techniques. Eves has a Bachelor's in History from SUNY Brockport and an MA in Irish History and Civilisation from University College Dublin. |
